THE ARCHITECT WITH A PASSION FOR BEER
"Knowing what you want to do for the rest of your life straight out of high school, was not a gift I had," Angelique confesses. “Towards the end of 2020, I had the opportunity to start a small craft brewery. However, due to the COVID-19 lockdowns, we were unable to obtain the licencing we needed. I then started working as a brand developer for a technology start-up, and it was during this time that I met Tewie (Managing Director) and had the chance to get a foot in the door as a trainee brewer at Darling Brew! After a few months, I applied for a permanent position and now they are stuck with me!”
"Being part of this brewery, getting to hone my skills while learning new ones and trying new things is great, and it is a very well-designed and equipped brewery. You know you have an amazing team when you don’t dread Mondays. We have a vibrant, diverse team with good synergy! It’s great to be able to work with people who are motivated and eager to achieve goals while delivering top quality and good vibes.”
“The beach at Yzerfontein is a great place for walking, especially towards Langebaan. You can keep going for hours and might even spot a seal or ostrich. The West Coast National Park is a good place to take a drive, especially in flower season.”
“Choosing a favourite DB beer is a challenge! I prefer bold beers that are big on flavour so our Warlord, Arrowhead and 4X4 BraaiPA are all personal favourites. It really all depends on the day! But if I had to choose only one, it would have to be Warlord. It has a deeply complex flavour balancing the big hop character and bitterness with the malty backbone. All without being heavy, while the aroma is reminiscent of tropical fruit, pine and citrus from the hops. For an imperial IPA it is a very easy drinking beer, so mind the kick!”
