'Tis the season, and the wonderful producers in and around the West Coast hamlet of Darling are feeling it in a big way. So, we got together and crafted Darling's Biggest Giveaway (EVER!) - an opportunity for one lucky person to WIN more than R12 000 worth of (multiple!) getaways, awesome experiences, and all sorts of local-is-lekker eats and treats.

HOW TO ENTER:

To stand a chance to win this great big festive giveaway, you have to be sure to follow the following entry mechanics carefully.

Darling Movie Nights have been a traditional annual summer event for a decade now. The movies – most of them awarded at festivals around the world – are presented in the open air in the garden of Darling Lodge Guest House. Guests are welcome to bring a picnic, drinks, blankets or camping chairs and enjoy the movies under the stars and pepper trees.

The Darling Mystery Trail hosted by Hello Darling! offers fun for the whole family. It is a relaxed treasure hunt and takes visitors on a stroll of around 1.5 – 2 hours through the scenic historic village of Darling. Solve the over 10 riddles, have fun and find a treasure!

The Darling Brew Tasteroom in Darling will give our winner and a companion the opportunity to come and enjoy any lunch of their choice, accompanied by two drinks each. They will also each receive a 1-litre Growler to fill up with any beer of their choice.

Darling Cellars wine hamper & wine tasting

Darling Cellars will treat our winner to a wine hamper, and a voucher including wine tasting for two guests of 8 wines each, accompanied by a cheese board, and a 10% discount on any wines they purchase on the day.

Pizza at the Marmalade Cat

The Marmalade Cat invites the winner and a partner to come and enjoy the Friday Pizza Night, for the best pizza in Darling. A pizza of any choice will be on offer, and they will spoil you with a bottle of "The Cats Whiskers" red or white wine for the table, to share. 

Lunch or Dinner at Kossie Sikelela Restaurant

Kossie Sikelela Restaurant, the new addition to the renowned Evita se Perron will provide the winner of Darling's Biggest Giveaway and a companion with a two-course fine dining meal that puts a modern twist on South African cuisine favourites (valued at R285 per person). 

Darling Olives goodie hamper & tasting 

The winner will receive a goodie hamper filled to the brim with amazing Darling Olives products, as well as 2 x tasting vouchers to enjoy in person.

WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT

The winner of Darling’s Biggest Giveaway will be announced on Monday, 20 December 2021. 

Once entries have closed on Friday, 17 December 2021 all entrants' names will go into a lucky draw (each name once or twice depending on whether the entrant commented on the post). The winner will be announced on Monday, 20 December 2021 on the Darling Brew Instagram account.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

Please note that the following terms and conditions apply for each prize as listed below. Read these carefully to ensure that you will be able to partake in the various prizes if you should be the lucky winner. 

• The Marmalade Cat
• Bookings are essential to enjoy the Pizza Night at the Marmalade Cat. Please call ahead to secure your booking and mention that you will be redeeming your prize. 
• 1 Queen Vic
• Accommodation at 1 Queen Vic is subject to availability. The prize is redeemable between Thursday and Sunday in the off-season (i.e., not in August or September - flower season - or December/January). Transferable. Redeemed within 12 months. Non-refundable.
• !Khwa ttu 
• The stay at !Khwa ttu is non-cash-refundable, valid until April 2022, and bookings are dependent on availability.
• Darling Brew
• The Darling Brew prize includes a 4-pack Slow Beer (R95), a 4-pack Bone Crusher (R105), a case of our premium JUST Beer (R299), a case of our JUST Right Light Lager (R299), a 4-pack Apple Bomb (R80), 2 x DB Trail buffs (R200), 2 x DB Facemasks (R59 x 2 = 118), 2 x signature DB bar blades (80 x 2 = R160). 
• These elements are not exchangeable for any other products. All hamper products will be available for pick-up from Darling Brew Tasteroom in Darling. 
• Darling Brew Tasteroom
• Bookings are essential to enjoy your meal at the Darling Brew Tasteroom in Darling. Please call ahead to secure your booking and mention that you will be redeeming your prize. 
• Darling Cellars
• The Darling Cellar wine hamper will contain: 1 x DC MCC Blanc de Blanc Brut, 1 x DC MCC Brut Rosé, 1 x Darling Gustus Skattie Pinotage, 1 x MCC Stopper and 1 x Pink Ice Bucket Darling Cellars Voucher. 
• On the day, the winner and their companion will also get a 10% discount on wine sales at Darling Cellars, as well as 1 x cheese platter for two and 2 x wine tastings at Darling Cellars. Voucher is valid from 26 November 2021 – 31 January 2022. Voucher is valid on 1 x sale. Non-refundable. Wines cannot be exchanged. Please book the wine tasting in advance at tasting@darlingcellars.co.za to ensure availability.
• All hamper products will be available for pick-up from Darling Brew Tasteroom in Darling. 
• Doornfontein Wildlife Estate 
• Doornfontein excursions have to be pre-booked. Quad bike adventures are not suitable for anyone with serious injuries - contact the estate to confirm if you feel you might have a condition that could preclude you from partaking. The quad bikes are automatic and quite easy to handle, but participants will be given basic training on using it on the day, and helmets are provided. Come wearing comfortable clothing and closed shoes. You will need to sign an indemnity form before you can partake. 
• A booking is required before redeeming the tour and the shopping voucher can only be claimed in person, on site at the physical  Darling Orchids store. Prizes are not refundable or exchangeable for cash.
• Kossie Sikelela Restaurant
• Bookings are essential to enjoy your meal at the Kossie Sikelela Restaurant. Please call ahead to secure your booking and mention that you will be redeeming your prize. The meal includes a two-course fine dining meal valued at R285 per person. This is not exchangeable for cash. Drinks are for diners' own account.
• Darling Olives
• The Darling Olives gift hamper includes 1 x jam gift box , 1 x rosemary and garlic rub, 1 x 1l EVOO tin, 1 x calamata 500g doy pack) Prizes are not exchangeable or exchangeable for cash. The tasting vouchers must be redeemed by 30 June 2022. Products have an expiry date as indicated on each product.
• All hamper products will be available for pick-up from Darling Brew Tasteroom in Darling. 
• Darling Sweet
• All hamper products will be available for pick-up from Darling Brew Tasteroom in Darling. 
• 1910 The Old Forge
• The prize consists of a R500 towards breakfast, lunch, or dinner at the restaurant, which will be deducted from your bill. The prize has to be redeemed by 31st Jan 2022, unless arranged otherwise with the owners of The Old Forge. This voucher can't be transferred, can’t be redeemable for cash.
• Groote Post
• Prizes are to be redeemed 6 months from winner announcement. Pre-booking is compulsory, no cash exchange or transfers allowed.
• Cloof
• All hamper products will be available for pick-up from Darling Brew Tasteroom in Darling. 
• Darling Lodge Guest House
• The prize consists of 2 x tickets for an open-air movie night that can only be redeemed on 4 or 5 March 2022. Food and drinks not provided. Please bring your own seating. 
• Hello Darling!
• The Darling Mystery trail is available all year round. Just get in touch with Darling Museum to see if the date you plan to visit will definitely work. Tours start whenever is suitable for guests, but it's recommended to come earlier in the day to enjoy a slow meander around town. It's relaxed walking, but comfy shoes and sunscreen are recommended. You may also want to bring some water. These tours are unfortunately not wheelchair-friendly or suitable for young children or much older, frail individuals.  
• Who May Enter
• Entry into this Competition is open to people who are above the age of 18 years, in possession of a valid South African Identity Document (“natural person”), resident and citizen of South Africa. Any employee, director, member, partner, agent or consultant or any person directly or indirectly who controls or is controlled by the Promoters and/or immediate family members of any employee, director, member, partner, agent or consultant of or person indirectly or directly in control or controlled by the Promoter/s, their advertising agencies, advisers, dealers, suppliers, its affiliates and/or associated companies are not eligible to participate in this Competition.
• The prize will only be awarded:
• to a natural person as stipulated in these rules and will not be awarded to any legal entity;
• if it is not unlawful to supply the prize to a person in terms of any legislation or public regulation and the Promoter/s reserve the right to require proof that it will not be unlawful to supply a prize.
• Disputes
• In the event of a dispute, the decision of the Competition judges is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into.

• Rejection or Forfeiture of Prize
• If the winner/s fail/s to comply with any of these rules or the terms of acceptance of the prizes, or if they refuse to sign the Promoter/s winner/s declaration or the Promoter/s winner/s prize acceptance form, this will be construed as a rejection of the prize and then, without prejudice to any other remedy which the Promoter/s may have, the winner will be automatically disqualified and will forfeit the prize.
