The DBX18 mountain bike challenge, together with Retail Capital, offers four routes to choose from. Each route is named after one of Darling Brew’s quaffable brews and will make use of a combination of single track, jeep track and farm roads in and around Darling. The routes range from the super endurance long course for experienced MTB enthusiasts, to the less challenging short ride for the family, novices and youngsters.

The race will start and finish at Darling Brew, where the Brewery offers riders and spectators a relaxed ambiance with family friendly surroundings, ample secure parking, locally brewed craft beer, entertainment and tasty eats. This year there will be awesome prizes available en route and the Stone Jets will be wooing the crowds before and after the prize giving.

Entries for DBX18 are now open and have been known to sell out fast.  Each entry includes a Darling Vleismark droëwors, a Darling Dairies yoghurt and a Darling Brew beer glass and Darling Brew beer (for 18s and over).

DBX’s community project of choice is DRESS, a recycling swap shop based close to the brewery and to their hearts. DBX will be donating bicycles for Darling youths to ‘buy’ with their recycling collections. One of these lucky kids will receive his/her well- deserved bike on the day of the race.  DRESS will be on site on race day to recycle your valuable waste. If you wish to contribute further to this good cause, you can do so with your DBX entry.

More about DBX18 routes:

Distance: 70km Elevation: 1800m Water points: 3
The first part of the 70km route starts out at a fast pace passing through Oudepost, the orchid farm. The biggest hill of the day follows soon after, which means about 9km of climbing from the start to the top. If the weather plays along, riders will enjoy a spectacular view of Darling and Table Mountain in the distance. A fast and steep descent follows, with cattle trails and a beautiful new section. Before you finish off with the 23 km single track loop on Wolwefontein, riders will enjoy some single track on !Kwa ttu. Cut off time will be incorporated!! Those who survive the hills will be rewarded with an ice-cold beer 5km before the end to give them that last bit of motivation.

Distance: 50km Elevation: 1000m Water points: 2
The classic old favourite is back but with a different start. The new start will show riders the breath-taking scenery on the other side of Darling. The Wolwefontein loop of 23km will test each rider’s single-track ability. They will also have to endure a final short climb across the side of Klipberg before returning to the brewery.

Distance: 30km Elevation: 500m Water points: 2
The route requires a reasonable amount of fitness. It promises a decent workout for riders who are not quite ready for the longer routes. The route will differ entirely from last year and be more rewarding. You will get a small taste of single-track and enjoy the beautiful scenery. We promise, no boring gravel roads!

Distance: 15km Elevation: 230m Water points: 1
Brand new! This route is the easiest, but we added one hill to make sure you deserve a cold one at the end. It offers a scenic loop through the vineyards and breath-taking views of Darling. There will be a water point after your climb.

Substitutions, upgrades and downgrades are welcome at registration, a R50 fee and the difference of the entry fee will be applicable.  No discount for downgrading.
