Driving along the dirt road that leads to the Darling Brew tasteroom and brewery you are not entirely sure what to expect, but as the tasteroom comes into view you immediately start to feel at ease and your mind focuses on the experience ahead. You have tasted the famous Darling Brew, you have studied the interesting bottles and you have heard the stories, but today you plan to immerse yourself in the experience.
Arriving at the tasteroom, it is easy to see why so many people flock here on weekends and why so many have become regulars since Darling Brew opened their doors just under a year ago. Lots of natural light, ample space, ambience and vibe welcome you as you take a seat and soak up your surroundings.
The tasteroom is designed for multiple experiences and optimised to ensure that each experience is perfectly presented and enjoyable. You can choose between taking a seat at the bar or at one of the tables or even outside if the weather allows. We opted for the table where we were introduced to Philippa, one of the Darling Brew co-owners who took us through the heritage and story of the brewery and the tasteroom before taking us on a tour of their state-of-the-art brewery.
Once back at the table we were treated to a walk-through of their beer range, no small feat considering they have roughly 15 different beers, including some that are available only at the tasteroom and in limited quantities. Each beer was introduced by its type and name and each came with an explanation as to how these were chosen. The knowledge of the staff stood out and enhanced the experience as they expertly explained each beer, allowing us to truly immerse ourselves in the experience.
No trip to the Darling Brew tasteroom would be complete without trying their food menu. Around 95% of their produce is sourced locally. We were amazed to discover that produce such as cheese, meat, breads and juices were being made right there in Darling and the immediate surrounds, and were delighted by the taste and quality of our meals. We opted for the charcuterie and cheese board as well as the steak roll and were incredibly impressed with not only the way in which they were presented, but how much flavour each dish had. Furthermore, they provided a great pairing with the beer.
At Darling Brew their focus is on sustainability and this comes through in every aspect of your experience at the tasteroom as you discover new facts about the world around you and learn about how going green and supporting local can really translate into an incredible experience. As you drive out of the gates and down the dirt road you cannot help but feel that you have started a new journey, a journey with a brand whose beer you can enjoy while at the same time supporting local and starting a conversation about conservation and sustainably.
